About Loretta

I’m Loretta Friend, a certified life coach who works with individuals who want to live their best life and confidently navigate it from a place of connection, rather than disconnection.

I do this by following best-in-class coaching practices and protocols, with a special focus on helping clients experience the magic and power that “feeling better first” can bring to the resolution of any issue.

My credentials include:

  • Certified Martha Beck Wayfinder Life Coach

  • International Coaching Federation (ICF) Accreditation

  • M.Ed., Vanderbilt University

A little about me includes:

  • I’ve had a 30+ year successful career in higher education and a lifelong interest in and passion for maximizing human potential and leveraging personal power.

  • I’m a mother of a young adult son who I adopted as a newborn, and the experience of being his mom has been one of the greatest joys of my life!

  • I’ve had a long-standing fascination with the concept that our thoughts create our reality. In particular, I have been an avid follower of Abraham-Hicks material since 2006, and this has impacted my life in a profound and meaningful way.

My coaching practice is somewhat unique in that I combine teachings and practices from two favorite teachers in my work:

Martha Beck, Ph.D., is a Harvard-trained sociologist and famously known as Oprah’s coach. Her tools range from ancient, time-tested practices to modern scientific practices, which continue to evolve in response to emerging research in psychology, neuroscience and other sciences.

Abraham-Hicks teaches that anything we can imagine is ours to be, or do, or have, and they provide numerous processes toward that end.

For those seeking to create a life they love, Martha’s brilliant coaching framework/tools coupled with the Abraham-Hicks processes is a truly powerful approach!

About the Power of Feeling Good

Those of us who are sensitive and in touch with our feelings know: you can’t elude your emotions. You can’t easily side-step them or trick yourself into feeling something different than you do. When your emotions don’t feel good, trying to pretend they’re not there and telling yourself that you feel better than you really do just doesn’t work.

Feeling better, when we’re not feeling good, can seem impossibly out-of-reach. But with understanding, applied technique, focus and practice, it doesn’t have to be that way.

The emotions that we feel are actually part of a very sophisticated guidance system within each of us. Some emotions feel wonderful and some feel terrible, but they are all equally important in providing valuable information as to how we are doing in the moment.

The Abraham-Hicks Emotional Guidance Scale (pictured here) is a useful tool in understanding our emotions. Emotions at the very top of the scale indicate that we’re in our greatest state of connection to the highest part of ourselves. Emotions at the very bottom of the scale indicate that we’re in our greatest state of disconnection.

Befriending our emotions and welcoming their guidance is a fundamental step in moving toward what we want. Having the desire to feel better and knowing that we usually only have the ability to move up the emotional scale one rung or so at a time, are necessary elements to include.

As we go through our day, we can find ourselves at many different places on the emotional scale , depending on what’s going on in our world. While we can be “all over the board” at times, we typically have an “emotional setpoint,” a place where we “trend,” depending on the subject.

As you learn and practice the skill of guiding yourself to better-feeling states of being you will soon find yourself “trending” on higher levels of the Emotional Guidance Scale.

If you are knowledgeable about the Law of Attraction, you will recognize that “trending on the upper portion of the scale,” as opposed to the lower portion, significantly improves your “point of attraction.” And this explains why things really do begin to get better when you feel better.

We can’t elude or side-step our emotions. But we can befriend them, understand them and harness their guidance to live our very best lives.
